What is Reiki

Reiki — Universal Life Energy

Reiki is often translated as “universal life energy.” In Japanese roots it points to life force   the animating energy present within and around us.

The Usui Shiki Ryōhō, “The Usui Reiki Method” is a simple, hands-on practice of channelling this energy to support balance and wellbeing.

Reiki is not about using your own energy.

The practitioner serves as a channel,  the energy flows to where it is needed.

Because of its simplicity, anyone can benefit from it and, if they wish, learn it.

Benefits you may notice

  • More calm, clarity, and inner steadiness

  • Softer self-talk and greater self-acceptance

  • Feeling less overwhelmed; clearer choices

  • A kinder relationship with your thoughts and story

Physical & Nervous System

  • Deeper relaxation and down-shifting from stress

  • Easier breathing; less shoulder/neck tension

  • Support for natural sleep and rest

  • Freer energy flow; gentle support for circulation and digestion

  • Increased self-awareness that nudges growth and healing

Reiki supports the whole person physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. It doesn’t diagnose, the energy follows its own intelligent path so each person receives what they most need in the moment.

How Reiki works (in simple terms)

Over a lifetime, we build protective patterns some helpful, some no longer needed. These can feel like blocks in the body-mind system. Reiki invites those blocks to soften so your natural flow returns.

As energy pathways clear, many people report feeling lighter, less “stuck,” and more positive often alongside improved quality of life.

What happens in a session

Setting:

You remain fully clothed, lying comfortably on a treatment table (or seated if preferred). The room is warm, quiet, and calm. A blanket is available for extra cosiness.

Touch (or No Touch):

I place my hands lightly on or a few centimetres above specific positions (head, shoulders, torso, limbs).

If you prefer no touch, the entire session can be hands-off.  Intimate touch is never part of Reiki.

Experience:

Most clients feel warmth, tingling, or deep relaxation,  some feel spacious and clear.

There is nothing you need to do just rest and receive.

Giving Reiki is as relaxing as receiving it because the energy flows through both giver and receiver.

Aftercare:

You’ll have a few minutes to integrate, drink water, and if you wish share what you noticed.

I’ll offer simple suggestions to support the benefits at home.

Session length:60 minutes (on location).

Online sessions (Zoom) are also available.

Distance (remote) Reiki

Reiki can be shared without being in the same room.

We agree a time; you make yourself comfortable in quiet, non-restrictive clothing.

I connect and send Reiki using traditional symbols tools that help focus intention and access the flow. Many clients report similar relaxation and clarity as with in-person sessions.

Learning Reiki 🌟 Reiki Training & Initiations

As a Reiki Master, I have the honour of passing on this ancient lineage through sacred initiations, also called atonements.

These are not simply courses, but transformative experiences that open your channel to universal life energy and invite Reiki to flow through you for life.

To integrate the growing flow of energy, Usui Reiki is taught in three degrees.

Each level includes an atonement (initiation), practice, and integration time.

Everyone’s path is personal some remain joyfully with Reiki I, others continue sooner.

Once attuned, you “have” Reiki,  ongoing self-practice helps it blossom.

Reiki I .. The First Degree

  • Reiki I (Shoden):Self-healing and offering Reiki to friends/family; foundations and hand positions.

The beginning of your Reiki journey. In this level, you are attuned to the flow of Reiki and learn how to use it for self-healing and for sharing with family, friends, and loved ones. It is the foundation  gentle, powerful, and deeply transformative.

Reiki II  The Second Degree

  • Reiki II (Okuden):Deeper practice, distance Reiki, traditional symbols; stronger flow and focus.

At this stage, your connection deepens.

You are introduced to the sacred symbols and mantras, which allow you to work on a deeper emotional and mental level.

You also learn to send Reiki across time and distance, bringing healing beyond physical presence.

Reiki IIIa  The Third Degree (Master Practitioner)

  • Reiki III / Master (Shinpiden):Mastery level for those called to deepen lifelong practice and, if desired, teach.

This level strengthens your connection to Reiki even further. You receive the Master symbol, which greatly amplifies your practice and spiritual growth. At this stage, you embody Reiki as a way of being a daily practice of alignment and presence.

Reiki IIIb  The Master Teacher Degree

The final stage of the Usui Reiki system.

Here, you learn to initiate and attune others into Reiki, carrying forward the lineage and becoming a guide for those called to walk this path. It is both a commitment and a blessing a calling to hold space for others in their healing and awakening.
